New vehicle sales, including commercial cars, attained an all-time high level of 36,122 units in 2010, 4% higher than in 2009 and 2% higher than its peak level in 2008.Sales of used cars decreased as the total number of imported cars fell by 5% on a yearly basis.
Kia had the top market share with 6,494 units, giving its importer NATCO, an 18% share. Nissan importer RYMCO came in second with 17%, as Nissan brand sales declined by 19% to 5,988 units, because of a stronger yen. Century Motors Co. gained market share, rising from 7% in 2009 to 12% in 2010 as a result of a yearly 76% boost in Hyundai sales that reached 4,315 units. The market for Toyota shrunk from 15% to 10% with 3,669 units sold.
